Loafer Bread

Note: Not technically breakfast!

The only thing I could possible fault
Tin Pot Cafe on was it's distinct lack of post-breakfast-sweet-treats. And all the avid readers of this blog know that Tiffo and Sal don't even get outta bed if the day doesn't offer them up some kind of baked good. Luckily after realising this, brilliant Steph mentioned that she'd walked past a funky looking bakery just around the corner. So off we trotted to discover Loafer Bread.

This is exactly what you'd expect from a Fitzroy North bakery. Very low key interiors, rustic feel for all the behind the counter displays, but on show are the delectable looking cakes. Lovely to see everything looking like a old school pastry should look with a distinct lack of artificial colors, smarties, sprinkles and blah blah blah. Maddy had to rush off for work, Megan couldn't possibly fit any more in, only 3 champions powered on. Steph got this incredible frangipani and almond tart with blueberries and pistachios. Unfortunately I didn't get a proper shot of it because I was too distracted - keen eyed Em spotted what looked like a custard doughnut, awesome, I was sold already. But the lovely lady behind the counter told us it was much more than simply a custard doughnut. It was a lemon custard doughnut, with masala (type of rum) soaked currants and candied orange peel dough.

Blow my mind whydon'tcha Loafer Bread. Em started first and declared it "possibly the best doughnut she ever had". And she was quite possibly right, this thing was incredible. And we got the last two so we couldn't even bring some home for anyone else to try. Apparently they do a breakfast, it was written up on their chalkboards, so when we undoubtedly head back soon for more of these doughnuts, we may have to try more of what they have to offer
